About Terry Gaspard

I am Terry Gaspard, MSW, LICSW, a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in counseling and writing. The topic of Moving Past Divorce is a personal one for me – divorce goes back several generations in my family. Having experienced divorce in my own life, I have a keen understanding of how it can affect the inner lives of children and adults, and impact the kinds of choices they make. My first book, Daughters of Divorce, is about and for women who grew up in divorced homes, as they face unique vulnerabilities related to love, trust, commitment, and self-esteem. It is the winner of the 2016 The American Book Fest Best Book Award for “Self-help Relationships,” and the 2017  Independent Publishers Silver Award for “Self-help.”

My book, The Remarriage Manual: How to Make Everything Work Better the Second Time Around, provides powerful real-life stories, action steps, and strategies for the millions of couples who are taking a chance on love in a remarriage and/or stepfamily. Grounded in 100 in-depth interviews of remarried people, it gives readers a clear road map to better relationship skills so they can build the happy second (or third) marriage they desire. It is the winner of The American Book Fest 2020 Best Book award for “Self-help Relationships” and the 2022 Independent Publishers Gold Award for “Self-help.”

My new book, Let’s Talk About Money:Low-Conflict Conversations for Couples will be published by Bloomsbury Academic on 1/22/26 and can be preordered here. It is also avaialble on audiobooks. Disagreements about money can erode trust and connection in a relationship, often becoming a major source of stress, separation, or even divorce. If couples stay stuck in an “us against each other mindest,” instead of shifting to  “us against the problem,” tension can become chronic. In my book, I help readers break this cycle and have harmonious relationships by teaching practical strategies for having calm, constructive conversations about finances. My approach can help partners communicate productively about money, learn their financial style, develop an effective money management system, build a budget and savings plan; as well as getting rid of bad debt, and saving for the “Big stuff” like a car or home. Let’s Talk About Money also covers financial challenges such as estate planning, the pros and cons of prenups, and financial infidelity..
I’ve created MovingPastDivorce.com to be a resource for both men and women for positive healing. Please contact me to learn more about consulting services, upcoming book releases, or to be involved with our “Ask Us A Question” services.
