Hello and welcome. My name is Terry Gaspard and I am a licensed therapist, author, and blogger who created movingpastdivorce.com to assist individuals dealing with struggles related to relationships, divorce, marriage, remarriage, co-parenting, and stepparenting.
Even though divorce no long holds the old stigma that it once did in our culture, it can still hurt more than ever. It can cause turmoil for people trying to unpack baggage from the past, let go, and regain a sense of personal power and happiness.
I know firsthand the challenges associated with both divorce and remarriage and I offer free blogs and resources to help you navigate the situations that you will face. I also offer telephone coaching and a free monthly enewsletter. You can sign up for both of the on my homepage here.
My first book, Daughters of Divorce, (published by Sourcebooks in January 2016), is about and for women who grew up in divorced homes and offers the 10 steps to success in overcoming issues related to trust, intimacy, commitment, and managing conflict in relationships.
My second book, The Remarriage Manual: How to Make Everything Work Better the Second Time Around, is a guide for remarried couples who want tips to help them deal with the thorny issues that surface in remarried families and to ensure that they won’t become another divorce statistic.
Love may be sweeter the second time around, but once the bliss wears off, the reality of joining two distinct worlds sets in. While we joke that marriage should come with a manual, for remarriages, it’s absolutely essential! The divorce rate for second marriages is 60 percent, compared to 50 percent for firsts. That is why I’ve spent several years writing my second book, The Remarriage Manual: How to Make Everything Work Better the Second Time Around, and I’m thrilled to share that it’s soon to be released by Sounds True (February 18, 2020 to be exact). I invite you to learn more and take a peek inside!
